My Home of Alter do Chao is a peaceful town with lots to do and see along the River Tapajos. Resident birds and monkeys explore the town and my father's lodge. A short walk from our accommodation to Lago Verde offers you an incredible sunrise before breakfast. Then we'll go exploring in my boat capable of holding up to 6 people and myself.  

 

Tour 1 - Starting at 9:30 am  - Boat Trip out to Canal do Jari where you be looking for wildlife amongst the Canopy.

Ponta de Pedras & Ponta do Jutuba you will relax along the beaches of Rio Tapajos and take in the views across the River.

Lunch is at the Beautiful "Casa do Saulo" one of the most beautiful restaurants views in Brazil. After lunch visits Lago Preto by crossing over the huge River Tapajos. Here you will have the opportunity to visit the Famous Amazon Giant Lilypads at a local home. Here you will have the opportunity to paddle out in the home's canoe and take photos of the Giant Lilypads, before returning and tasting the variety of ways you can eat them. 

From here you take a short trip with Jerison downriver to another local home where the home is also home to the local Sloths and Squirrel Monkeys.

Take a small canoe and paddle into the canopy behind the home and take plenty of photos of the incredible number of animals in the treetops above you.

Lastly, you head back across the river for a Beautiful Sunset across the River Tapajos at Ponta do Cururu. Returning at 19:00pm

Tour 2 - This is for the beach lovers, a full day of Amazon Rainforest Beaches. White Sands back onto the surrounding Rainforest.

Starting at 9:30 am you will pass Praia da Pindobal, Ponta do Caxambu, Lago do Jurucui, and finish the day watching the Sunset over the Rio Tapajos at Ponta do Mureta.

Tour 3 - Embark on a journey downriver to see one of the largest Sumauma trees in the Amazon Rainforest today. Leaving at 8:30 am you take the trip south of Alter do Chao, arriving at the community Jamaraqua. Here you will hike with a local guide into the surrounding Rainforest. The trip is 2 hours to reach the Sumauma tree, and along the way, you will be shown how the community harvests the local Rubber Trees to make handicrafts and jewelry. Take a break at the Sumauma Tree to take in the enormity and the photos to show your family back home. 

The last 2-hour hike back to the community will be a chance to see an incredible high viewpoint out over the surrounding rainforest canopy. Check the rainforest floor as you hike for the Poison Arrow Frogs, small but very confident in the poisonous skin!

Also passing overhead may give you the chance of seeing the variety of Monkeys and Birds in the region.

Lunch is waiting for you on arrival and a deserved rest. 

After lunch take the walk with Jerison to the local Latex shops where they hand make jewelry and handicrafts from the surrounding trees. Before walking down to the creek for a little swim in the local creek.

Head back to the boat and back upriver for an afternoon of sandy white beaches at Ponta do Maguari and Ponta do Cajutuba. Before ending the day watching Pink River Dolphins playing in the river and a sunset over the River Tapajos at Ponta do Mureta.
